Dear Kenwood Customer: Thank you for your e-mail. Programming the TM-261A in 6 easy steps. 1. Push VFO button enter frequency 2. Push the F (function) button and then shift button to select - or + offset 3. For PL/Encode to function you must have a T showing in the display. Push the TONE button to show T in the display 4. Push F (function) for more than 2 seconds using the main tuning knob dial to TO and select a PL/Encode example 103.5 then push the VFO button. The PL number will flash, please select a PL by turning the main tuning knob. You have to do this within 10 seconds. 5. Putting all this information into memory, push the F (function) button, and the number will appear on the right side of the display. Turn the main tuning knob to the desired memory of your choice. Immediately push MR button to store all the information into memory. 6. To recall memory push MR button, and you will see all the information you have just stored.
